Business Development Manager

Business Development Leader: 
We are looking for a mid to senior-level technical leader to manage our Business Development efforts in Scientific Consulting and Analytical Laboratory Testing Services. In this role you will report directly to the COO, enjoying a great deal of autonomy as you develop and manage business opportunities. You will work directly with technical leaders throughout the business to improve customer acquisition and retention, fill our proposal pipeline, and improve account management practices. You will primarily focus efforts on domestic opportunities and would be expected to have the flexibility to work and travel, as necessary.  

 


What You will Do:

  • Develop a professional Sales and Business Development team and related processes in support of company operations and revenue growth.
  • Work directly with Executive Team and technical leadership to identify and lead business development opportunities
  • Conduct research and develop business case material for pursuit of business, contract research, and partnership opportunities
  • Build effective formal and informal relationships, partnerships, and networks to best support company growth needs
  • Apply knowledge of business and markets we serve to advance the organization’s goals
  • Build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions
  • Identify and develop strategies to improve technical capabilities and increase presence in targeted markets
  • Develop and refine processes for effective Account Management and Customer Relations practices

Required - Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners
  • Proven ability to consistently meet or exceed goals, even under tough circumstances
  • Collaborative mindset to interface with various teams and ensure timely fulfillment of customer requests
  • Enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, and problem-solving attitude for our company and customers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage an active sales pipeline
  • Excellent communication skills (speaking, writing, presentation, and presence)
  • Experience navigating ambiguity and fast-changing priorities
  • High degree of professionalism to represent RJLG in private meetings and public events
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially PowerPoint
  • High proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM
  • Graduate degree in science or engineering related field of study
  • Proven leadership in building an effective sales and business development team
  • Ideally 7-10 years of experience in client relationship management and business development in professional services industry
