Analyst I Wet Chem. AIC

Job Responsibilities
The Analyst will be involved in every aspect of operation of the inorganic chemistry department including but not limited to sample preparation, sample analysis, method development, data quality review and reporting, training personnel, maintaining instrumentation, etc. Major responsibilities will include the preparation and analysis of a variety of samples and matrices such as minerals, organic based matrices, environmental and industrial hygiene samples, etc. using wet chemistry and instrumental techniques.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • BS or advanced degree in Chemistry or related field
  • Three to five years of experience working at a commercial laboratory using different inorganic characterization techniques.
  • Experience with wet chemistry and digestion/decomposition sample techniques (acid/base digestions, fusions, microwave digestions, etc.)
  • Experience with EPA, OSHA, NIOSH, ASTM preparation and analysis method and protocols
  • Strong MS Office applications experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor other junior analysts
  • Must have good organizational skills and ability to perform efficiently multiple tasks
  • Working experience with instruments such as IC (anions or hexavalent Cr), CVAA or UV will be a plus
  • The position could require working after normal business hours
